About Us

In 2006 former major league baseball player, Marquis Grissom founded the Marquis Grissom Baseball Association, Inc. (MGBA), a nonprofit 501c3 tax-exempt organization, registered in the State of Georgia and based in Atlanta. Throughout the year, MGBA presents numerous new and innovative baseball and softball camps, clinics, and games that offer open involvement to boys, but also girls who are interested in participating and becoming more skilled and knowledgeable about the game. Through their involvement in these highly structured programs, activities and competitions, young people are offered opportunities to contribute as a vital member of a team and, at the same time, emerge as highly disciplined and focused individuals, each committed to being and doing their best, while at the same time supporting their team members in that same endeavor.

Our organization serves metro Atlanta inner city youth from diverse racial and ethnic backgrounds (ages 8 through 16) and youth from at-risk socio economic backgrounds. By offering a holistic and comprehensive approach, we are committed to offering these young people opportunities to learn beneficial life and academic skills through participation in rigorous and structured baseball camp programs and activities. This method of approach also assists boys and girls into making the transition into young adulthood by providing experiences for them to grow and develop as individuals and providing opportunities for them to engage in activities that promote self-respect, discipline, leadership, and accountability.

Through the years, MBGA has successfully partnered with local school districts and businesses within metropolitan Atlanta. Our involvement contributes to building solid partnerships within our community and having a significant impact on breaking the cycle of poverty, lack of education, and high crime rates in impoverished urban neighborhoods. Our programs are planned, implemented by major and minor league baseball players who are as committed as this organization to modeling community leadership and active involvement.

The funding we receive from our generous partners allows MGBA to offer our participants and our community a modern and higher quality playing and learning environment in which to learn and experience the game of baseball.
